The personhood initiative, also known as Initiative 26, is becoming one of the hottest political issues in the state.
Supporters and opponents are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars buying billboards and signs and radio and TV ads to try and win votes on Election Day.
If the proposal passes, many say it would outlaw abortions in the state.
Opponents are worried if it could have unintended consequences and limit a woman's ability to make important health care choices.
Two doctors on both sides of the divide answer critical questions, such as whether or not birth control would be banned in the state if the proposal passes.

In my opinion, I feel that people are overstepping their boundaries in telling people, specifically a woman, how and what she can do to her body and for what reason. Its is solely up to that person what they chose to do with their life and body. If that is the case, we should start hand picking which kids will grow up to be star athelete's or leaders of public office because they fit a criteria specified by an external body. Its all crazy to me. What is your opinion?

Robert Graham only supervisor with two cars provided by the county.-Jackson Jambalaya
A review of mileage records for the Hinds County Board of Supervisors reveals District 1 Supervisor Robert Graham had two county-owned vehicles assigned to him for all but a few months of his term. Mr. Graham is the only supervisor to receive two cars at the same time. The county provides each Supervisor with a car. Mr. Graham received one for himself and one for his assistant (Special Projects Officer), Flo Smith. Each supervisor has an assistant whose salary is paid by the county. However, the county did not assign vehicles to any of the other assistants. Mr. Graham's mileage records report 73,509 miles during the term used by the two vehicles and fuel charges of $11,717. Mr. Graham logged more miles than any other supervisor and recorded the second-highest fuel charges after George Smith ($14,457). What is interesting is Mr. Graham represents arguably the smallest district in Hinds County. Supervisor Hobson-Calhoun represents a district of similar size and recorded only 17,141 miles and fuel charges of $3,750.
The records state the following cars were assigned to the Supervisors in the following years:
Robert Graham: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Doug Anderson: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Peggy Hobson-Calhoun: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Phil Fisher: 1997 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
George Smith: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
Flo Smith: 2000 Ford Crown Victoria (2008. Ms Smith is Mr. Graham's assistant)
Robert Graham: 2008 Chevy Impala (2008. Car was changed).
Doug Anderson: 2008 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
George Smith: 2008 Ford Crown Victoria (2008)
No supervisor received another car from the county after 2008. Supervisors Fisher and Hobson-Calhoun did not obtain new cars in 2008 but instead drive 1997 and 2000 Ford Crown Victorias to this day. Supervisors Smith, Anderson, and Graham all obtained 2008 (model year) cars several months after the start of the 2008 term.

The GAUNTLET is being laid, insiders say
Newly elected sheriff Tyrone Lewis will have big shoes to fill as the new man in town. In more than one way. Sources close to us are saying that exiting sheriff Malcom McMillan is laying somewhat of a minefield of issues for Lewis as he departs. Things will not be politics as usual. More details to come. But as of now, if you know anyone close to the newly elected official, let them know that they are walking on dangerous grounds. GOOD LUCK!.
Farish Street-Promise City
Yesterday afternoon, David Watkins of Watkins Development, took the podium at a meet and greet about the promised entertainment district in the bold new city. To those of us who were on this bus from the beginning, we offer this bit of sarcasm. WHERE DO WE TURN THIS BUS AROUND AT? This is seemingly the largest and slowest build the city has ever seen. Spanning a few blocks of historical reconstruction and restoration, and taking more than its fair share of time. Ever since Mayor Frank Melton was in office, we have been receiving more and more promises of what the district will be like WHEN IT OPENS! But yet, we have not even seen buildings complete reconstruction. Watkins made statements such as, "We made mistakes, and my partners made mistakes" in an effort to make up for the displeasure a lot of people are voicing. And yesterday evening was no less lack lustering. The pics placed along the walls to show movement in the thrive for opening were a small piece of the promise pie that was given. An IMAX theater, sound stage, and many lofts were said to be on the horizon. Even Blackberry Studios is said to be moving from its Ridgeland office, to Farish street. But who's looking for that. In an urban city with a deep musical history, it is going to take a mass of different styles of people, from various musical backgrounds and business savvy individuals to put the street where it should have been 5 years ago. Still struggling to secure loans, Watkins and his team have along road ahead of them. Do not expect nothing more than a snails pace of improvement down there.

Jackson Jambalaya: Crisler plays the race card.: Macon newspaper busted Marshand Crisler for playing the race card in recent campaign stops. Marshand Crisler ought to be ashamed of himself I know his parents and they damn sure didn't raise him to be like this. See for yourself.
